2017 Spin-to-Shawl

Hello to all the spinners who knit!

We are hosting a year-long (Jan 1 to Dec 31) event for those who love to spin yet feel lost when it comes to picking a project.

Do you want to learn how to participate? Read on!

Step 1: Pick some top or roving which is a personal favorite. You can even branch out and spin something you’ve never tried before! We recommend either the English Wensleydale top, BFL top, or the Local Lincoln cross roving.

Step 2: Select one of the 4 patterns below:

Farmhouse by cabinfour (available through Ravelry in-store sales)

Pure Aran by cabinfour (available through Ravelry in-store sales)

Low Tide by cabinfour (available through Ravelry in-store sales)

Water’s Edge by cabinfour (available through Ravelry in-store sales)

Step 3: Figure out how many ounces/grams of fiber you need, and then start spinning!

Farmhouse: originally used 300g of 2-ply wool Worsted Weight [9wpi] (840 yards)

Pure Aran: originally used 300g of 3-ply wool Aran Weight [8wpi] (510 yards)

Low Tide: originally used 200g of 2-ply wool Sport Weight [12wpi] (808yards)

Water’s Edge: originally used 200g of 3-ply wool Fingering Weight [14wpi] (880 yards)

The best part about the Spin to Shawl-A-Long taking place throughout the whole year is that you can set your own timeline! If you want to spin the project in the first 6 months, and then knit over the last 6 months, that’s great! If you want to complete it all in a few months, that’s fab too. There’s no pressure, and at the end of the year you will have a wonderful shawl that you can use for the 2018 Winter!

If you purchase the pattern and all of the fiber in-store at Flying Fibers, you will receive 15% off your purchase for this project!
